It has been a tough few weeks since AK's surgery. It has felt like we regressed some. After coming home, AK did not sleep through the night. She was still in a lot of pain and would wake up crying from the pain. It was not until this past Saturday that she would not scream out and cry in pain when she pooped. It was so sad. AK also had to have sponge baths for five days after coming home. She did not like this. Her and Bennett were so excited when she was able to get a bath and play in the water.
With all that, AK is finally settling back in. She has started saying a number of words now. She can say the following.
Colors: yellow, blue, purple, black
Animals: dog, turtle
People: Mommy, Daddy, Bennett, Nana, Poppy
Other words/phrases: where are you?, no, love you, bite, shoe, baby
We went to the doctor today for her post op visit. The doctor was pleased with her incision. He has not received the pathology report yet, but will call us when it has been received. She will go back in three months for lab work and examination. The lab work will continue every 3 to 6 months for two years to evaluate if her levels elevate revealing possible new growth of teratoma.
