We had AK's second IAC appointment today. It went smoothly and was shorter than our last appointment - thank goodness. The developmental therapist was the first to see AK. She brought in a bucket of toys, so AK really liked her. She asked us a lot of questions about what AK is doing and she watched AK play with the different toys. Although I did not recognize her, she is from Trussville and her little boy goes to the same daycare as Bennett. She was really pleased and impressed with AK's development. She is on target for a 17 month old. We also informed her that we discovered that AK was at Maria's Big House of Hope. She said that explained how well she is doing and said there were a lot of families who had kids from there.
Then we met with the family therapist again. AK has had a lot of progress. She is no longer having fits, hitting her head, and pulling her hair. We have also made progress in going to sleep in her crib and sleeping through the night. We mainly discussed how to transition AK into daycare. The obstacle we face is for August, AK and Bennett will be in the same class. I am afraid what me and AK visiting and leaving Bennett's class without him would do to Bennett. So we decided to try to work AK into daycare in the afternoon, so I can leave with both of them.
Lastly, we met with the pediatrician. She went over all AK's lab work from the last visit which was all normal. We talked about AK's reaction to insect bites. She mentioned that Asian people tend to react worse to insect bites. She agreed with what we are doing and also mentioned giving AK Zyrtec during the summer to help decrease her reaction to the bites. I was so not a medicine mom with Bennett, but feel I dope AK up on medicine. She is not on a lot of medicines. I just feel I have given her a lot of different medicines over the two months we have had her, but we have had runny nose, sleep issues, and now insect bites.
So now we can proceed with AK going to see Dr. B. We will have a six month follow up with IAC. We also wait to hear the results of the MRI.
