Bennett 27 Months

Keeping up with two has had an impact on keeping up the blog.  The last post I made about Bennett was when he turned two.  My big boy is now 27 months old.  I don't even know where to begin on what has happened over the last three months.

Bennett weighs about 24 pounds and is 34 inches tall.  He has started eating new foods.  He will eat fruit (loves the squeeze fruit pouches too), dino nuggets, hamburgers, and spaghetti.  If you asked him what he wanted, he would say cinnamon rolls.  His favorite foods are cinnamon rolls, dino nuggets, Nutella sandwich, and gummies.

Developmentally, Bennett seems to be progressing well.  He knows all his colors (which he really knew when he turned two).  He really learned them by us pointing out the colors of cars we passed when riding in the car.  Put his love of cars and learning together and we have a winner.  His vocabulary amazes me.  He says everything.  He still struggles with pronouncing the first constant on some words.

Bennett still loves books.  He also loves trucks and construction equipment.  So when I got him a book on Trucks/Construction Equipment, I was #1 Mom.  He can recognize and say bulldozer, loader, excavator, dump truck, fire truck, and ambulance.  We have also been working on our letters over the last three months.  Bennett recognizes the following letters - A, B, O, K, S, and D.  We have success by associating a letter with a name.  So S is for Shea, K is for Kevin, and B is for Bennett.  Bennett has also become really good at golf.  As a mom, I am encouraging this sport since it is a safer sport.  He will sit the golf ball down, line up his club, and swing and hit the ball.  I am so proud of him.  He has gotten better at throwing the baseball and hitting the baseball.

Although I feel I have the sweetest and most precious little boy, Bennett has finally hit what I would label the "terrible twos".  Instead of talking, he whines.  He wants everyone to do what he wants, when he wants, and how he wants.  I believe whining is worse than nails on a chalkboard.  I lose any form of patience or reason when he whines.  I continue to pray God will help me with this, but He may be able to correct Bennett faster than me.  We have had a few instances of having to leave a store and sit on the curb in time out to get him to return to a normal child (and me a normal adult).  It may be a little easier if I did not have Anna Kate who is still testing boundaries.

September, Bennett moved up to the Explorer class at daycare.  I tried to prepare him and he really seemed to transition easily to the new class.  He seems so excited about being a "big kid" and playing on the "big kid" playground.  The teacher posts pictures each week of the class.  I am loving getting to see Bennett and his friends playing and learning.

I guess the next obstacle I face now having a toddler is potty training.  We introduced the idea back in May and je seemed somewhat interested.  With lack of consistency on us and adjusting to a new life as a family of four, his interest seemed to go away.  We have brought the topic back up and hoping around the holidays that I can work with him.  He has not shown any interest, but encourages "sissy" to go potty.  Anna Kate is always willing to try.

I am truly enjoying each stage Bennett goes through.  I love the interaction he has with us now.  I love still be a "funny" mom.  I can do the simplest thing and he will laugh so hard he gets the hiccups.  I would love to have time stand still so we can better appreciate these stages and accomplishments.  Since that is not possible, I need to make sure I make time to enjoy my kids and document through my blog and taking as many pictures of them I can.
