Baby Dedication

Sunday at church was baby dedication. In years past, it has been a hard service for me to attend. I looked at this Sunday differently.

God knew from the beginning of time that mine and Kevin's path for having a child would be different. He started molding my heart for adoption when I was in middle school. I remember Betsy speaking to the youth on Sunday morning about how she was adopted and that she was so thankful that her birth mother chose not to have an abortion. In college and work, I have become friends with a number of people that I learned were adopted. I have always been moved by the difference those families made in a child's life.

This Sunday I thought of my daughter-to-be. Although our daughter has not been conceived, God already has a perfect plan for her. He knows what she will look like, what her first word will be, and when we will get to meet her for the first time. I pray that she will realize what a special gift and blessing she is to us.

  3. Well, since we may have a little while and Shea is working on paperwork. We need to figure out what this little girl will call me. I really don't like the ring of Aunti Beth and Uncle Jonathan is really long. I love to hear my boys say Aunt Shea and Uncle Kev. So what will it be? Maybe I should see what Chinese children call family members, it might be culturally fun for her. Give feedback please!

But to be honest, I can't wait to have her spend the night at my house. Even though I might not know what to do with a girl. I hope she can learn to like racecars and dinosaurs.

  4. I have found that chinese words are strange. I found the below site that provides the chinese translation for some english words and phrases. Aunt is not bad, but uncle is funny.

  5. Tell Beth that she will have to watch the boys. This little girl will have them playing dress up with ribbons and bows

  6. She will never be in ribbons and bows unless they display a bulldog or something. I am so thankful to have only boys. NO bows. Only t-shirts, jeans, and some shoes and we are good. Maybe a little rougher on things, but so much easier. But it will be nice to have a little girl to spoil and possibly have an excuse to go get my nails done!
