Day 1 - Travel to China

Today we were picked up from the house at 4:15 am to go to the Birmingham airport. Our flight left Birmingham at 6:00 am. Stormy weather in Chicago caused us to go to Indy to refuel and wait for storm to lift.

A little over an hour later, we were back in route to Chicago. While sitting on the plane , we got to chat with a few people. We got some advice on where not to eat in China (small restaurants ). A man asked Kevin why we were going to China. Kevin told him we were adopting our daughter. He responded that there are children in the US that need adopting. He is absolutely correct. However, our daughter is not from the US. I believe all children deserve to be loved and cared for regardless of geography, race, ethnicity, or medical needs. Despite this one man's comments, many people on the plane were happy for us.

Due to mechanical issues, our flight out of Chicago was delayed from 12 pm till 4 pm. We have ran into a lady who is with our group. This is her third adoption.

Currently we are scheduled to leave at 4. So my next post will be from Beijing.

  1. Shea...I am praying you through China...I had the privilege of going to China almost three years ago with a precious family as they got their little girl. I know some of what you are experiencing. Enjoy. Take pictures. Write down things you want to remember. Be safe. God's Blessings as you and Kevin travel. dawn
